“I’ve always found Meredith’s approach to the many projects we have worked on together to be innovative and her output both informative and insightful. She understands tourism – both the policy and the planning side. She has great analytical brain and she is very collaborative. Which makes working with her productive and enjoyable. I would be more than happy to be contacted directly if more project detail was required”

The Coffs Coast Tourism Strategic Plan presented some unique challenges. It included coverage of two distinct and quite different destinations that market under the Coffs Coast brand, namely – Coffs Harbour City Council and Bellingen Shire Council…Wray Consulting brought together a team of experts. and produced an innovative plan which addressed the key challenges and proposed unique solutions to enable a positive future for the destination. The work involved extensive community and industry consultation… Dr Wray presented regularly to the Destination Coffs Coast Management Committee and did so in a highly professional and engaging way. Her team delivered above and beyond what the brief required and this represented strong value for money for both Councils. I would highly recommend Dr Meredith Wray for any similar projects.

Michael Grieve – Manager Economic & Business Development, Bellingen Shire Council

“Australian Sustainable Tourism academic Dr. Meredith Wray, Director of the International Centre for Responsible Tourism, Australia made an excellent contribution to the IORA experts meeting on the first day, with her presentation on sustainable cruise tourism. This is a subject of great interest to the Indian Ocean Island States in terms of developing new markets of their “Blue economy”.

“Meredith was instrumental in the creation and production of the Destination Marketing Plan for Eurobodalla Shire Council on the NSW South Coast. This plan considered not only tourism, but also broader economic regional development, land-use planning policy and Council’s Human Resource structures in a way that ensured an integrated approach to Destination Marketing throughout the entire organisation.

Through her experience and focus, Meredith was able to ensure that all the stakeholders were consulted and engaged in the process, and felt that they had ownership of the plan…I had the pleasure of working closely with Meredith and always found her to be reliable, honest, timely and, most importantly, open to new ideas and suggestions as to how to reflect the idiosyncrasies of the Eurobodalla community. Meredith was willing to listen, but at the same time, she put her points of view forward, and these were always backed up with research and detail. Meredith is a highly motivated professional who can easily communicate and relate to anyone, with any level of understanding.”

Paul Anderson, former General Manager Eurobodalla Council (currently GM, Gosford City Council)

“Eurobodalla Council sought to review its position in marketing of the area for tourism and Meredith brought a unique blend of ‘helicopter vision’ and pragmatic expertise in her consideration of the issues faced by this Council. Her academic prowess and thorough knowledge of the industry provided a credible platform from which she engaged with our community.

Meredith successfully analysed our local context providing an excellent report outlining the strategies and actions needed to take us forward. Working with Meredith has been an absolute pleasure.”

Meredith’s  knowledge of the tourism industry and its issues is outstanding.”

“I am so proud to write this message as the inaugural President of the VIA for Byron Shire. It seems such a long journey we have been on to get to this point. It was December 2011 when this all started, with Meredith Wray chairing a long contingent of stakeholders – we all agreed the formation of a Byron Shire Tourism Organisation was well and truly needed.”

Cameron Arnold – Chair VIA Byron

“As Steering Committee Chair for the Tourism Victoria funded Strategic Tourism Planning exercise for the Victorian, Hepburn Shire I had an opportunity to work closely with Meredith Wray.  This almost two year long exercise in 2007/08 was very comprehensive and the insight and direction provided by Meredith in her former Southern Cross University consulting role was critical to delivery of what ended up being a very strong plan for this significant tourism location in Victoria.

Meredith brought with her a breadth of experience in regional tourism, across the nation, which was invaluable in developing our plan.  A major strength of our exercise was the manner in which community consultation was undertaken, a critical element given the nature of our community.  I can highly recommend Meredith for any future work she may undertake in tourism planning. I would be happy to provide any further information required.”
